FAQ

Which Spanish do you teach?

I’m a Spaniard and therefore I teach the Spanish spoken on the Iberian Peninsula (Spain), also called European Spanish. I speak Spanish during the whole lesson so you can profit the most from the class. However, upon request, I can also speak with you in English or German. Be it because you’re a beginner, to explain you something particularly difficult or to treat a special topic.

How do lessons take place?

Lessons are being held via Zoom.

What time zone do you teach from?

Since I live in Spain, my time zone is Madrid/Spain (GMT +1 /summer time GMT +2).
Do you have problems with the time difference? Check it here.

How long is a lesson?

Individual lessons last 50 minutes and always start at the full hour (e.g. 10:00 am – 10:50 am). It’s also possible to have two consecutive lessons (e.g. 10:00 am – 11:40 am).
Courses have a specific number of hours. Therefore, the duration of a class can vary (between 50 minutes and 2 hours).

What are trial lessons like?

A trial lesson lasts about 35 minutes. First we will talk about your needs, objectives and interests as well as about your current Spanish skills. This is followed by a couple of exercises which help me to assess your language level.

What equipment do I need?

You need a desktop computer or a laptop plus a good Internet connection. In addition, you need a webcam in case you don’t have one already integrated in your computer. Earphones or a headset help to prevent acoustic feedback.

What software do I need?

You need Zoom for the video conferences. You’ll need the latest version (free of charge).
By purchasing lessons or booking a course you also gain access to my learning platform. Here, you have at your disposal all necessary information, material or interactive exercises (optional).

Do I need to buy learning materials?

Depending on the type of course/individual lesson you may need to buy a textbook. Nonetheless, I always prepare any necessary additional material and exercises for every lesson.

Do I need to do homework or practice at home?

The learning pace and the time you invest only depends on you. In general, I activate exercises on the learning platform after every lesson, so you can repeat what you learned. This includes various interactive as well as conventional exercises, depending on what needs to be practiced. If you want to advance faster, I recommend you to do those exercises and repeat what you did in class before the next lesson.

How can I book an appointment for my lessons?

After purchasing individual lessons you can book them via the calendar available here.

Can I cancel or change an appointment?

Yes, in the case of individual lessons you can move or cancel an appointment. However, this needs to be done at least 24 hours in advance and in writing by email. If it’s done less than 24 hours in advance, the lesson expires and the purchase amount will not be refunded.
For the courses it’s not possible to cancel or move a lesson. If you miss a lesson it expires and cannot be recovered.

What happens if I don’t show up on time for a lesson?

For individual lessons I’ll wait up to 15 minutes. If you show up during this time the remaining lessons will be held as planned. If after 15 minutes you still didn’t connect, it is considered as no-show and the lesson expires. In this case, too, the lessons cannot be recovered and the purchase amount is nonrefundable.
For courses you can enter a running lessons at any time. However, the lesson won’t be extended nor will the missed part be recovered.

Can I transfer my lessons to someone else?

At the moment this is not possible. If you would like to gift Spanish lessons, please contact me before you make a purchase.
